History
The Granville-Tolland Dollars for Scholars® was established June 4, 1974. Since its inception, our chapter has awarded over $500,000 in financial aid to deserving students from our two towns. The annual sum of financial aid awarded has increased from $4,355 to over $32,000 a year, with the average scholarship approximately $2,000.
As an affiliate of Scholarship America®, the Granville-Tolland Dollars for Scholars is a member of a nationwide network of community-based, volunteer-run Dollars for Scholars chapters. Each chapter has the same mission - to raise funds in their local community to support local residents in pursuing a college education. The network of all chapters throughout the United States is nationally based under our affiliate, Scholarship America, of Saint Peter, MN.
Organization
Our chapter is composed of an Executive Board, a Scholarship Awards Committee, an Endowment Committee and several ad hoc committees. Our volunteers are board members and others who help with specific events. We are always interested in welcoming new volunteer members.
